Novak Djokovic Outlasts Roger Federer To Win Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic is the Wimbledon champion for the second year in a row. Djokovic defeated Roger Federer in a five-set match for the ages to capture his fifth Wimbledon title. The pair traded sets, 7-6 (5), 1-6, 7-6 (4), 4-6, before Djokovic won an epic tiebreaker in the fifth and final set 13-12 (3).

Federer had two chances to win the match in the fifth set, but Djokovic managed to save both match points to force the tiebreaker.

"Unfortunately in these kinds of matches, one of the players has to lose," Djokovic said after his victory.

The match lasted four hours and 55 minutes, making it the longest final in Wimbledon history. There were 68 games, 422 points, and 35 aces.

The win gives Djokovic 16 Grand Slam title overall. He is just four behind Federer who holds the record with 20.
